The Hangar-7 is located in Salzburg’s International Airport in Austria. It is a multifunctional building made of glass and steel, owned by Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz that holds historical airplanes, helicopters and Formula One racing cars and also a renowned restaurant and a bar. The building was originally designed to hold the fleet of the Flying Bulls, a private owned aircraft and helicopter fleet. The architectural concept of Hangar?7, which marries modern technology to ancient, was based in a shape of a wing containing 1.200 tonnes of steel and over 380 tonnes of glass. The opening of the building occurred in August 2003. Next to Hangar-7, the Hangar-8, which has a similar shape, is used as a restoration and maintenance facility. |
