The Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim is a technology museum in Sinsheim, Germany. It is run since its opening in May 1981 by the "Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim e.V." a non profit-making organization with members from all over the world. Since its foundation the financing of the museum is based on membership subscriptions, donations and the admission charges exclusively. All surplus funds are applied to the expansion of the museum. As of 2004, it has more than 3,000 exhibits and an exhibition area of more than 50,000 square meters (indoors and outdoors). In addition to exhibitions, the museum also has a 22m x 27m IMAX 3D theatre. It receives more than 1 million visitors per year and is the largest privately-owned museum in Europe. Besides the aircraft shown here, the museum includes such different objects like tractors, locomotives, cars, construction machines, military vehicles, motorcycles and Formula One cars - the museum has the largest permanent collection of Formula One cars in Europe. The museum is the only place where both supersonic passenger aircraft, the Concorde and the Tupolev Tu-14 can be seen together. Both are fully accessible by the public. |
